dead load, live load and wind load.
a) Explain partial and full shear connections 4 Marks
b) Explain moment resisting base plates with neat sketches Marks 5
A column ISHB 350 @ 661.2 N/m carries an axial compressive factored load 9 Marks
of 1700KN. Design a suitable bolted gusset base. The base rests on M15 grade
concrete pedestal. Use 24mm bolts of grade 4.6 for making the connections.
PART ८
a) Differentiate between local and overall buckling of light gauge 3 Marks compression
members.
(9௩௦ lipped channels each of size 300 x 100 x 30% 2.5 mm are placed 9 Marks back to
back, touching each other, to act as a column of length 3.5 m.
Compute the safe load on the columns. Take f = 240 N/mm?.
a) An ISALC 200 x 100 @ 153.3 N/m channel is used as a simply supported 9Marks beam
over an effective span of 1.75 m. Calculate the safe uniformly distributed load it can
carry.
