Answer any three questions. Ten marks each.
a. List and define five fuel properties significant to diesel fuel. How this property will
affect combustion. (5)
b. List any two alternative fuels for crude diesel. Mention its properties. (5)
List all CI engine combustion chambers. Describe any one type each category.
Explain any two types of fuel feed pump for CI engine applications.
Compare different types of injector nozzles.

With neat schematic, explain a typical CRDI fuel injection system.
Draw a basic layout of EDC and briefly explain each subsystem.
Explain the valve timing diagram of a high speed diesel engine. Compare it with
theoretical valve timing diagram.
