6. (a) What do you mean by blending functions. (7 marks)
(b) Explain different techniques for modelling (8 marks)
PART ட
Answer any two full questions.
7. a) List and describe the steps involved in FEM. (10 Marks)
b) A rod is subjected to an axial load 600 KN is applied as shown in the figure. Divide the
domain into two elements. Take A = 250mm2, E = 2x105 N/mm2. Determine the
following,
1. Displacement at each node.
2. Stresses in each element.
3. Reactions at each node points.
8. (a) An axial 1 oad of 44105 N is applied at 30°C to the road ೩5 580... wn in the figure.
Temperature is then raised to 60°C. Calculate the following,
1. Assemble the K and F matrices.
2. Nodal displacements.
3. Stresses in each element.
4. Reactions at each nodal points.
(10 Marks)
For Alumiilum,
A= 1000070002, E = 0.7x105 N/mm, 0७ = 2310-6.
For Steel,
4 = 15000710712, E = 2x105 N/mm2, ७८ 12x10-6/°C. (10 Marks)
