PART C
Answer any one full question from each module, each carries 10 marks.
Module ५
An RLC series circuit consists of a resistance of 100 ൨, an inductance of 10 mH
and capacitance of 10 uF. If a voltage of 200 V is applied across the
combination find (i) resonant frequency (ii) Q factor of the circuit and half
power frequencies.
For an R-L-C series circuit with R=10 Q, L=0.1 H and C=10 uF is excited with
an alternating voltage source. Determine the impedance (i) at resonant
frequency, (ii) 10 Hz above resonant frequency, and (iii) 10 Hz below resonant
frequency.
Draw the variation of impedance with respect to frequency of an R-L-C series
circuit.
Module VI
Three resistances 5 Q, 10Q and 15 Q are connected in star and connected across
a 230 V, 50 Hz supply. Calculate the current through each resistor.
A balanced delta connected load of each arm has a resistance of 40 Q per phase.
Calculate the line, phase currents and power of the circuit if it is connected
across a 440V, 50 Hz supply.
Describe the measurement of power of a three phase circuit by two wattmeter
method and obtain the expression for power and power factor.
